Wired vs Wireless Mouse

It’s a question almost as old as Windows 95: is a wired mouse better than a wireless mouse? This real answer is: it’s all up to your personal preference! There is no right or wrong answer, only what suits your life better.

A wired mouse offers you reliability. Unlike a wireless mouse, a wired mouse will almost always work (barring any hardware failures). You plug the mouse in, it works, and you’re off to the races – there are no wireless signals you need to worry about. Unlike a wireless mouse, a wired mouse doesn’t require batteries to operate, since it’s powered by the cable attached to the computer.

On the other hand, a wired moue also restricts you:

Cable length – you’re limited to the length of your USB cable. You can’t go beyond the bounds of that cable, and if it’s too short you may have to end up moving your entire computer just to use your mouse.

Twisted cables – the mouse cable can get in the way of your activities (which can be especially problematic for gamers), which causes you to tug, pull, and reposition the USB cable.

A wireless mouse offers the freedom to use the mouse just about anywhere you want to: you’re not limited by the length of your cable. Plus, you’re not going to get trapped in a mess of USB cables (which can be a godsend to some gamers who often find them tugging on their mouse cable in order to get more slack).

There are some significant disadvantages to a wireless mouse:

Batteries – the mouse has to be powered somehow, which means you’re going to be replacing the batteries every time they run low, which can end up costing you a significant amount of money in the long run.

Wireless signal – since the mouse is wireless it’s susceptible to wireless interference. If you find that you get a lot of wireless interference with your other devices, there’s a good chance your mouse will run into the same problems, causing you to not be able to use your mouse at all!

In the end you’ll have to choose the mouse that’s right for you. If you find that your mouse cable is just getting in the way of your activities you may want to invest in a wireless mouse. On the other hand, if you’re getting annoyed at the amount of times you need to replace the batteries in your wireless mouse you might want to stick with a wired mouse.

Of course, the only way you can know what’s right for you is to go out there and try various devices out for yourself. Since this is all based on personal preference you need to have experience with the difference devices before you can make a judgment call.

Match Preparation in Football Manager 2011

Match Preparation in Football Manager 2011 allows you to not only work on your pre-match setup but it gives you the ability to train your team with regards to their tactical proficiency. It’s not an obvious training module, but it should be looked at as if it was part of the training system. Training covers only Technical and Physical attributes, whilst it’s Match Preparation which trains a players tactical attributes.

In order to create a rewarding training routine via MP, you have to repeatedly work on the same tactical setup. If you work on improving one formation you will see the familiarity bar rise as a result of the team becoming more comfortable with that system. This is why it’s important not to ‘chop and change’ your tactics too radically when they’re not working very well for you.

Aside from the training aspect of MP, you should note that the “Special Focus Areas” setting is excellent for exploiting the opposition’s formation or setup. You should look to do your pre-match scouting (more below) and then utilise this module to make your team focus on one method of exploiting the opposition’s weaknesses. It’s important to remember that selecting an SFA will distract the team from other areas of their game, but if you get the SFA setup to correctly exploit an opponent who are – for example – weak at corners, then you might find the result is far more positive than simply opting to operate within your own style of play.

Remember, setting the MP workload will have an effect on the Training workload, so try to find a balance for your team. It’s all about considering if you want to work on the team as a unit or on players as individuals – then make setting the sliders to the levels you want. I’d personally work on the team more than the players, then when the team is at a good level, lower the SFA workload and focus on improving the individuals. Obviously, finding a balance is still vital, so don’t be extremely biased to one focus area.

Let’s take a deeper look at the Special Focus Areas.

Team Blend

This allows you to focus your players on better understanding how their team-mates work with the ball. By using this SFA, you’re able to build a team unit, rather than have 11 strangers playing in your side.

Defensive Positioning

This allows you to ‘drill’ your team in the art of defence. The best teams are the hardest to exploit in defence, and by focusing on this area, you’re able to lower the risk of player’s being in the wrong position when under pressure at the back and give them direction on how to function as a defensive unit, rather than relying on the defenders to do all the defensive work.

Attacking Positioning

This allows you to ‘run plays’ with the team. With this SFA, you’re able to influence the players into attacking in numbers, rather than attacking as individuals. This allows you to have players in better attacking positions when crosses enter the box, or when counter-attacks are being executed. With this, you’re able to have your team working ‘in tune’ when they’re attacking.

Defending Set-Pieces

This allows you to train the team to be more proficient when defending corners or free-kicks. Having a team who know exactly what needs to be done and how the players around them will be reacting when the ball comes at them, is something you will really benefit from when they’ve mastered this Special Focus Area.

Attacking Set-Pieces

This allows you to train the team to be more clinical when attacking corners or taking free-kicks. Having a team who know where players are going to run or where the ball is going to be placed, can make the difference when it comes to taking advantage of an attacking set-piece.

What to Do If Your Downloads Are Taking Too Long

Slow downloads are not only annoying but can also cost you a lot of time and effort. Fortunately, there’s a very simple way to fix this problem which even a beginner can do. Here are the steps you should take to fix the slow downloads on your computer:

Step 1 – Check Internet Speed – The speed of your Internet connection is essential if you want fast downloads. Nowadays, a typical broadband connection is considered fast if it’s over 1mb/s in speed. This basically means that the connection has the ability to download files at 100kb/s (the download speed is 1/10th of your overall connection speed). To test what speed you’re getting to your computer, you should Google “Broadband Speed Test” and then click on the first link. Run the test on the website and if it’s below your expectations, you should contact your Internet provider.

Step 2 – Check Download Server Speed – If your connection is okay, the problem might lie in the “server” speed” of the download server. Whenever you download a program off the Internet, you PC is basically connecting to another PC (called a ‘server’) and downloading a series of files from that. If the Internet connection of the other PC is poor then your downloads are going to be very slow. This is a problem which cannot be fixed but you can try and avoid it by using another download server. You’ll have to Google the file name you want and it should show you some different servers (known as “mirrors”).

Step 3 – Clean Out The Registry – One of the biggest causes of slow downloads is actually thanks to Windows itself. Many computers end up making their downloads run slow because the settings inside them are unable to be read quickly or smoothly. This is a problem which even the most advanced of Windows systems cannot avoid and is where your computer will actually save many of its most important settings in the wrong way, corrupting & damaging them. This will make them unable to be read – which means that when you PC wants to download a file and it needs to read a series of settings to do that, it will end up taking a lot longer than normal.

Most slow downloads can be fixed by cleaning out the ‘registry’. The registry is where all the settings for your PC are kept, and is where Windows looks for a series of ‘download settings’ each time you want to download a file. These settings show Windows how to download files at the fastest rate possible, and its vital that they are in the correct standing. To clean out the registry, you can use a ‘registry cleaner’ which is a software application that scans through all the settings on your PC and fixes them.

The 4 Elements That Makes Up A Personal Computer System

There are 4 elements that make up a personal computer system: the user, software, hardware and the electricity all working together for the whole system. Each of these elements is essential to the system itself.

The user is the person’s who perform the task using the computer system. The nature of the task depends upon the application program or software that is needed to perform the task. The software that the user used requires certain hardware components to function properly.

The hardwares of the personal computer system are made up of its equipment that are usually connected (the computer, monitor, printer and so on). It is defined as hardwares because you can physically touch these components. The programs are called softwares since their function can only be used when the computer is turn ON. Software is a set of coded instructions that the computer uses in order to carry out the user’s tasks.

The user can only use the computer when it is turned ON. Without any electrical power to run through the personal computer system, it will not function. The ability of the personal computer system to control its components is through a series of on/off signals.

Here is how it works, when a user tries to type a document or a letter using his/her personal computer. The first thing the user do is to turn ON the power for the computer. Choosing a Word Processor software in order to write the document. The user uses the hardware such as the keyboard to write the content of the document; the typed document is then displayed onto the monitor screen. After the user finished writing his/her document. The user will use the software to instruct the printer to print the document. The software works together with the hardware components (the keyboard, monitor and printer) to accomplish the task that the user requested.

All of the four elements: the electrical power, hardware, software and the user work together to make up a personal computer system.

How Computers Evolved – History and Generation of Computers

Evolution of computers has been drastically and dramatic. Computers have been in the existence in the early 1950s, but people were not able to use them. When you mention the word computer most people only think of the Desktop Computer, but in reality computer start with our calculator.

Therefore a computer can be defined as an electronic device that input, process and output information. Lets take in the case of a calculator, when adding figures you are example 1+1 =2, now you will be input data which is 1+1, this data is going to be processed through addition process, to give us 2. Now 2 is the process information which is the output.

The first computers to be invented were very big, slow and time consuming with limited capabilities. Computers history and has gone through various stage as they evolve starting with the first computers, before first generation computers we had the ABACUS computers which were limited by their capabilities

The first generation were developed in the early 1940s with their architect based on massive electronic value. They were vacuum tube dependent and without this they would not operation, from first generation computers came in the second generation computers which were better than first generation computers in performing electronic calculation but still were slow, an example of this second generation was the ABM 7000 series.

As the computer kept on evolving into generations people being more knowledge about them and the invention kept on being better, due to this the third computer generation was realized , this computers generations were powerful than the first and second generation computers, and use integrated circuit normally known as IC. An example of the third generation computers was IBM 360 Series.

The third generation computers led to the fourth generation in computer history, with this generation, electronic function were getting better, efficient and more enjoy with relatively less errors compared to the previous computer . And this are the computers used in our day to day activities. They are also using Integrated Circuit IC for their daily operation. The fourth generation computer will lead to the fifth generation computer which will be more powerful and ability to take instruction from people. This is known as artificial intelligence, in some instances robots are being used to do certain work which were done by human beings.

Watch Satellite TV on PC – Desktop or Laptop

Technology has made it possible for you to watch satellite TV on PC. This is a dream fulfilled for some. Not long ago, people are still arguing and torn between the two choices – satellite TV and cable TV. While the competition is carrying on, we will take a closer look at these two major entertainment titans and compare them before deciding if we should take up either one or maybe to watch satellite TV on PC would be our choice.

Before we look at the option to watch satellite TV on PC, let us try to understand the background of satellite TV and cable TV. There are clearly two groups of TV viewers, one of them who are subscribers of cable TV, while the other watch satellite TV. Satellite television has always been thought to be more outstanding in terms of TV program quality. Cable TV on the other hand has so far gained an upper hand in terms of TV package pricing. One common grouse of satellite TV viewers is its complicated and not so easy satellite dish installation. To set up the satellite TV, you need to install a satellite dish of suitable size, receiver, cabling, mount and other equipment in order to start receiving satellite TV programs. Fortunately since most satellite service providers also provide free satellite dish installation as part of the package you subscribe for, it saves a great deal of trouble for satellite TV subscribers.

In terms of its availability in different geographical states, both are almost equal. Satellite TV viewers sometimes complain about the occasional disruptions in the TV transmission during bad weather conditions but just in case you are thinking cable TV viewers are spared, they are not either. This flaw is a common issue both groups of TV viewers have to contend with. This effectively levels the playing field for the two titans.

Satellite TV and cable TV are expected to continue to compete in terms of availability of service, quality and selection of TV programs and pricing. But in the mid of it, statistics are revealing that satellite TV is fast growing to become the choice of many viewers. Other than local TV entertainment, satellite TV viewers are pampered with a wide selection of entertainment, information, movies and traditional channels of satellite TV. Anyone can get to watch any program from world news, comedy to TV series, sports games and events and science documentaries using satellite TV. Your children would be entertained by the educational kids channels and cartoons.

These are essentially the two most widely accepted ways to watch TV. You may not be aware but to watch satellite TV on PC is like bringing the best out of the two popular TV entertainment methods. With a broadband internet connection, a computer that can be a desktop or laptop and proprietary PC satellite TV software installed onto your PC, you can instantly watch satellite TV on PC within minutes. This totally eliminates the need for complicated installation of the satellite dish system.

As you know, broadband internet connection is seldom interrupted and this also means that your TV viewing experience would not be interrupted and the TV picture quality is illegally to experience distortion. You no longer have to miss any exciting episode of your favorite TV show because of a broken transmission of the TV feeds. One greatest benefit to be stated is the cost to watch satellite TV on PC. The only investment you are going to fork out is the one-time software cost in order to watch satellite TV on PC.

Looking at the many benefits that PC satellite TV has to offer, this modern TV viewing mode looks set to take the crown in the TV entertainment industry. Read up my satellite TV blog on more information about the software that has enabled many TV viewers to watch satellite TV on PC.

It's All About The Traffic Stupid!

How many times have you bought a product that promises you that you will earn thousands of dollars if you use their system to build sites only to find that the manual contains not one word about generating traffic? You buy the product and build the site and it just sits there doing nothing.

I do not care how great a product is if it does not show you how to generate good quality traffic then it's almost worthless. If I was starting out again I would not spend money on any tools or e-books until I had mastered the art of traffic generation, and it really is an art of getting traffic to a site.

You can have the best looking site in the world, with the perfect keywords but if you do not know how to firstly attract the search engine spiders and then real human visitors then the site is going to have no value. Try selling a website and the first thing you will be asked is "What is the Income & what's the traffic"

The income is not particularly important. If I am buying a site I actually want the income to be as low as possible as it will be cheaper for me. Given a choice of a site with an income of $ 100 a month and 1000 visitors or a site with $ 10 per months and 2000 Visitors I'll always go for the visitors.
Take time to develop your own traffic delivery system and you'll have one less thing to worry about. Take time to find out what works and what does not. I created a video for my members yesterday about how to get a site indexed and start generating traffic and I found something that got a new site into Google in less than 18 hours.

This was something new that I had not used before needed to say I was pretty impressed. I used it on another site 3 hours ago and guess what? It's now showing in Google. That's 3 hours from creating an entry to it appearing in Google. I did not even know that updated their database that often!

I've read lots of books on traffic generation and not one of them has mentioned this service. This is not surprising as the reason for this is that the internet is changing on an almost daily basis what worked great last month does not work as well this month. Take Squidoo for example, it used to be the best way to get a site indexed but not anymore.

The easiest way to find the services that work is by seeing what ranks well in Google. Personally I will focus on internet marketing terms as marketers tend to be ahead of the pack on most things related to site promotion. I'll then locate what services they are using to get links back to their sites and then test them on my new sites. If they work the get added to my spreadsheet and then used until something more effective comes along.

Is It Possible To Build an Online Empire From Scratch?

So then, is it really possible to build an online empire from scratch? This is a question many people have been asking themselves for some years now. Some of these people will answer with a resounding – “Yes!” some won’t. The question which really needs to be asked is: “Are you prepared to do what it takes to succeed?” There is a commonly held belief that starting an internet business is both cheap and easy and anyone can do it. Unfortunately, this is simply not true.

To achieve success in an internet business, just as in traditional business, is about ‘stickability’. Many of the issues we encounter online are just the same as in a traditional off-line business. However, beginning a business online will, for most people, involve learning lots of new skills and techniques. So, starting an internet business can be even more difficult because it will take you into areas you have probably never been before.

For many newcomers to the business, any gaps in knowledge or skill can be initially overcome by ‘outsourcing’. This means, to put it simply, getting other people to do the work for you. This is great for people who don’t feel happy with writing content, articles, etc. or dealing with the more technical issues surrounding the design and creation of websites. You might be thinking to yourself: “Won’t that cost an arm and a leg?” The answer is – “No!” This work can be done by professional copywriters or ‘techies’ for a very small outlay indeed.

The trickiest issue with internet marketing is to bring ‘traffic’ to your website and to your sales letters. You might have found or created the greatest product in the history of the universe and produced (or had produced for you) the most captivating website the world has ever seen, but if nobody visits your site, your sales letter will not be read and your product will not be sold. This issue of traffic is the most vital in the running of an online business.

If you think about it, thanks to the internet even the most ‘niche’ of products has an enormous, global marketplace. How do we make our products, our webpages, our offers stand out amidst all this competition. There is not the time or the space to tackle this issue in-depth in a short article such as this, but it is something which needs to be researched and the various options need to be understood. You can then decide on the method which best suits your own situation.

Be careful when researching the possibilities, however, as there are many rogues out there on the internet offering very attractive sounding solutions. They promise to send out your promotional material to thousands of ‘targeted’ potential customers when in reality they will be taking your money to send out a shoddy little email to a general list of largely uninterested people, if, indeed, they send out a message at all. If you are about to invest in anything on the internet, always, always, do a search on the company or the individual’s name. There will be information out there in forums, etc. where users will express their views on the relative merits of the people involved. Just put the name into a search engine. If the offer is of good quality and worth the investment there will be reviews expressing that view. If you have hit on an ‘internet bandit’ your computer screen will light up like a Christmas tree with warnings to leave well alone.

It is definitely possible to build an online empire from scratch but it will take time, effort and a certain amount of financial investment. If you feel you have what it takes to take on the challenge then all the best in your business venture.

Slow Running Computer? 3 "Surefire" Fixes For a Slow Computer

If you are stuck with a “slow running computer”, unfortunately there isn’t one single “remedy” that’s guaranteed to work. The solution is to just try a combination of different things.

But having said that, there are some problems that are far more common than others. Here are 3 problems and their corresponding solutions for the most oft-seen computer problems.

PROBLEM #1) Registry

One of the most common is the registry. This is actually to blame for up to 90% of all Windows computer performance issues. The registry is the “central command” system for your system. Every time you add or delete a file, it gets added to the registry.

Remember–your Registry has to sort through all the old records of every file you’ve downloaded in the past to get to the new files you are currently using. Obviously if it takes a long time to find it, this will cause delays.

Also, sometimes size isn’t the issue–it’s simply that things are saved the wrong way, either by you or the Registry. Either way, the only solution is a “registry cleaner”. I would recommend doing a “free registry scan” before paying just to make sure this is a potential issue. If your computer is older, more likely than not it’s a faulty Registry that is causing slow-downs.

PROBLEM #2) Error messages

Believe it or not, if your PC sends you error messages, simply typing them into a Search Engine in quotes should pull up the solution you need. It’s almost guaranteed somebody else has had that exact problem… and you can just see what others have done to fix it.

REMEDY #3) Get rid of programs

The reason for this is obvious-it makes more room. But don’t forget to afterwards go to the “Recycle Bin” and delete it there as well.

How to Make a DJ Splitter Cable

Just starting out as a DJ? Don’t have a dedicated sound card, and don’t want to buy one until you’re sure DJing is for you? Or maybe you’re DJing from your iPod or iPad using one of Algoriddim’s djay software programs? Or perhaps you have a sound card, but it’s having technical difficulties just when you’ve got a major event scheduled.

Whatever the reason, there are times when you don’t have access to a DJ sound card or controller but you still need to do a professional job as DJ. And in order to do that, it’s obvious that you need to have two audio outputs from your music player – one that the audience is hearing and a second one for your headphones only, which is usually the next track so that you can find the proper starting place and check the track for speed, EQ and other factors.

Fortunately there is a relatively cheap and simple solution to this problem. If you have dedicated DJ software like Virtual DJ, Traktor Pro, DJ for iPhone, DJ for iPod Touch or DJ for iPad, it is fairly easy to find splitter cables that allow your DJ software to send the audience signal (also known as the master signal) down the left-hand channel of the music player’s stereo headphones output, while sending the signal for the next track (also known as the monitor, cue or headphone signal) down the right hand channel.

Once the signal is split, you use a special lead to take the left-hand master output and connect it to the speakers for the audience to enjoy, while at the same time sending the right-hand monitor output to your headphones so you can cue up the next track properly. In other words, you are using a single stereo audio output to deliver 2 separate mono outputs.

You can easily buy a dedicated splitter cable for DJing on Amazon or other music sites. Or, if you’re handy, you can also make your own splitter cable by using an 1/8″ stereo headphones (TRS) plug to two 1/8″ mono headphones (TRS) jack lead, and then two 1/8″ mono headphones (TRS) plug to 1/8? stereo headphones TRS jack leads, for a total of three leads.

The main disadvantage of this setup is that you’re relying on the quality of your music player’s in-built sound, whether that player is an iPad, computer, iPhone, or other device. So of course if the player is producing a poor quality sound, your DJing sound quality will obviously be sub-par as well.

Another possible problem is that the audience signal that you are generating using a splitter is in mono rather than stereo. However, this is less of an issue than you might expect because most club and bar PA systems are actually mono anyway.

Finally, you do need to keep in mind that the audience signal will only be half-power due to the splitting. If possible you would want to have a mixer or PA system available to boost your signal again so as to give the audience the best music experience.

However, even with these limitations, a splitter cable is certainly a practical and inexpensive tool every DJ should be aware of for those situations when a dedicated DJ controller or sound card simply isn’t available.

Advantages to Android Game Development

The industry of mobile game development has introduced a very important aspect to the market – the ability to conceptualize, develop, and release video games on devices with far more success and ease than ever before. And with the Android app marketplace only requiring a one-time fee for submitting an application, the cost becomes almost negligible to put the product out for millions of customers to find. Even the submission process is drastically shorter than on most other smartphones, as the app regulation is far more lenient for the Android OS.

Another drawing point for developing games on Android devices is the programming language featured- Java. Java has long been one of the most popular programming languages for video game developers, and thus makes it extremely easy for the average programmer to pick up Android development for the first time. Compared to most other mobile platforms, which usually sport modified or newly invented languages, the learning curve is decreased to nearly nothing, so a new developer can complete a game in a fraction of the time.

Another unique aspect to Android game development is the lack of standardization in the droid phone family. As the Android OS is not licensed to a single mobile phone making company, the phones themselves can vary to an extreme degree in terms of features and hardware specifications. While one device may have a fully functioning A-GPS and HDMI video compatibility, another may have a QWERTY keyboard and no GPS at all. While this is certainly appealing to some developers, as they are likely to find a phone that will meet their hardware needs precisely, it will also restrict the potential audience, as some phones will not be able to support the more complex applications.

When the game development process has finally reached the point where it can be released to the public, the developer is presented with yet another choice- which market would the game be most visible in? Unlike the iOS, there are numerous marketplaces and app stores for Android phones, each one with it’s own advantages and disadvantages. From the basic Android marketplace, built to only display the apps compatible with the phone currently being used, to the Amazon app store, which offers a different free app every day, the myriad of marketing strategies can be almost daunting, which makes it all the more useful that an application can almost always be entered into multiple marketplaces without issue. However, whether it makes sense to spread attention across several different fields is another question entirely.

The Android game development process overall truly gives the most variety on the smartphone market. From start to finish, strategies can be hand-tailored to the developer’s desires, making the game as close to the original concept as currently possible. While the audience may not be as large as that of iPhone users, the Android presents itself as a strong contender, purely through its accessibility. And with the largest variety of smartphones on the current market, the possibilities for development are inexhaustible, and continued releases can only add to the capabilities the platform has to offer.

Two Dads: One Computer-maniac, the Other Computer-phobic

I have two Dads. That sounds strange does not it? One is my genetic father, and the other is my geneticist father. The genetic Dad I've only ever lived with for one year when I was an infant, while the geneticist Dad is what you would call a step-father, but I've lived in close proximity with him for more than 20 years. I feel close to them both. I connect differently with each of them but on a pretty much equal level. The reason I'm sharing my personal information with you is because I've just had a realization about my fathers in relation to the area that I work in: computers and the Internet. It's really quite interesting.

One father is a computer maniac. Whenever a new technology, software, gadget, or website emerges he is one of the first to grab it up and evaluate it. My other father has an old piece-of-crap box that looks something like a computer, with a tediously slow dial-up connection to the World Wide Web. Compared to the wireless, broadband Mac personal computer and mobile-connected Mac laptop of the enthusiast, they could not be further parts of the galaxy.

Then there's me. I could be construed as being a walking paradox, an enigma, or just plainly twisted when it comes to my relationship with the computer and Internet sphere of life. Nature / nurture, genetic / environmental … For whatever strange reason, I have turned out to be a combination of the two papas. I work as a creative writer for an Internet web-hosting company. I love the ideas and valuable functions and tools that the Internet has brought to humanity (or was it humanity that bought it to the Internet?). However, I have issues and challenges when it comes to using these awe-inspiring machines.

Currently I am away from home in a different city visiting my girlfriend. At home (I am currently living with my parents-Mother and geneticist, as I'm going to live overseas soon) all I have to do to get on the Internet is open up my laptop and I'm on-line. If I'm at work, I go to my PC and all of my settings are stored and ready for me to use. While in a new place, things have not been running as smoothly as I would've liked. The answers are probably simple and easy to do, but this is one of the kinds of challenges that cause me to stumble. Although I am deeply interested and have a true faith in this new technology, I am a real novice when it comes to getting things done on someone else's computer.

I bought my laptop with me. My girlfriend only has a dial-up connection which she uses with her laptop. I could use hers' but she's Chinese so a lot of what comes up on the screen is illegible to me. I do not know how to change her language configuration. I'm used to doing it quite easily on my Mac, but her computer is a PC and I'm not as practiced in this other format. That's one of my problems. I only have so much patience when it comes to working these technological issues out; It could have a trait passed on by my ice-age father (No judgment is being laid here.) He just does not feel that he can work new technologies out. "He's had a digital telephone answering machine for two years which he still hasn ' T set up. He feels bad about it but his manual one does the job, so he sticks with it.). I'm also a little afraid to hook my laptop up to her dial-up line as I know from experience that I'll have to change some settings of which I am not confident about doing.

So the next answer was to go to her university where she said people use their laptops wirelessly in the library. That sounded cool so I went in and tried it out. I even tried changing the settings to get it to work (It took courage.) But I could not get it to work. I was weary about asking for help because I was not really a student at that particular learning establishment. Instead, I've been using the library's computers. This is OK, but since I can not walk away with the files I create (I borrowed my girlfriend's thumb-drive but an experience from the past of not being able to transfer information from PC to Mac deters me from using it-again, An irrational fear. I know it, and I will give it a try this week. I've saved to saving my files in my email account as attachments. It's not conventional, but it works.

Another issue I've had is getting onto my messenger service. The university computers do not have it on their desktop, and when I tried to download an on-line version I was told that I did not have the authority to do so. I went to an Internet café, and I could do work there (I'm working on the road) but I feel kind of silly paying to get paid. It was cool there because as they had messenger with voice and video and I was able to have a conversation with my brother who is traveling around India. He could see my sister and me, but we could not see him as he said the Indian computer devices (webcams, headsets) in that town were looking a little bit crappy in design and also looked worn for wear. It was heaps of fun making funny faces knowing that he would be seeing us. I think he's getting lonely as he's only 19 years old and has been away from home for over 7 months.

As you can see I've inherited beliefs about computer from both of my Dads. I find things more difficult than most, I believe, but I'm not going to give up doing my best to get the things done that I feel are necessary. Over time I hope to get over these little obstacles and hurdles and become proficient in all of the cool aspects of this new realm of human endeavor. I also have faith that the technicians and engineers are probably working hard to make things simple for the rest of us.

Whatever happens, I'm going to stick with it, and when I go to see my genetic father next I'm going to do my best to inspire him to buy a new computer with a Broadband connection. Then all I have to do is show him a few of the amazing things that this human created Internet tool can do. One of the aspects of the Web that affects me is mostly the simple fact that if you think of anything at all in the known Universe, you can then look it up on your search engine like Google and in the time it takes to blink your Eye, immediately start to learn. It sure beats catching the train to the library, looking up a book in the card catalog, searching for it, then finding out that someone else has borrowed it and is late bringing it back.

Travel: Different Means of Travel!

Nowadays, there are many different means of travelling which include airplane or ships or trains or buses etc. you can choose your medium by keeping in view your interest, your priorities and of course your budget. Lets have some general over view of different means of travelling.

AIR: Air travel is the most recent means of moving from one place to another. Since its first usage, it has become so popular due to its many advantages that it is now the most used mean of travel by people for long routes. It is taken as an expensive choice although there are many air lines that are offering air flights quite cheaply but over all it is an expensive but most quick mean of moving from one place to another.

SEA: Sea is one of the oldest means of travelling. Ships were used for roaming even by Greeks and Egyptians. It remained the main source of travelling for quite a long time but after the invention of aero planes, it has somehow lost its place. Nowadays moving from one place to another by sea is rarely done and even when done it is mostly through large ships which are built for luxurious cruising for the more privileged people. Middle and lower class people can’t really enjoy in those huge and luxurious vessels.

TRAIN: Moving from one city to another by means of train is considered as the most reliable and affordable mean of travelling. Trains now for long have remained a top priority of people for travelling. Travelling by train has all the ingredients that it takes for a perfect travel as it is quick and reliable and cheap mean of travelling.

Disk Backup Solution

Whether you work from home or for a large conglomerate backing up the information contained on your PC is essential. But when it comes to finding the right disk backup solution you may become somewhat confused as to what is the best, simply because there are so many different ones to choose from.

You can either go for solutions where you back up everything you have to an external hard drive, which connects to your PC using a USB cable. Or the other solution is to use an online data backup service. Also, you have the choice of going for either a tape or disk to disk back up system. Which one you choose to use depends on the type of PC you have as well as the kind of network that you are using.

Previously when people where wanting to back up information that they have collected on their PC’s they would use tapes. However today more and more people are relying on disk based ones instead. So what are the advantages to using a disk backup system over a tape one. Below we will take a look at what some of these are.

Advantage 1 – Actually moving the information from your PC on to a disk backup system is far quicker than with a tape one. Not only is it much quicker it also allows you to configure the settings on the disk to meet the exact requirements of those of the disk on your PC. This means not only are you saving yourself time but also money as well.

Advantage 2 – Disks are far less vulnerable to being damaged either by people or the environment. The problem with tape backup systems is that they are vulnerable and can be easily damaged by heat, humidity and dirt. Because of this, you can expect when trying to restore data from tapes then you will find that you have lost between 25 and 50% of the data that has been stored on it.

Advantage 3 – Disks are far stronger than tape so they will last much longer and can stand up to you constantly overwriting the information that is already on them. Also because these come in sealed cases the chances of them being affected by external elements is greatly reduced.

Advantage 4 – Probably one of the biggest advantages to be gained form using a disk backup solution system is that they are far easier to manage. This is because such systems will often come with tools to help you manage the system and in some cases are browser based so it allows for easy configuration of settings as well as checking the status of how the backups are proceeding.
